I feel prescient. :-) I wrote a few days ago about how Reliance's wireless infrastructure could be used to provide mobile data and other content to large numbers of users. And today I came across this posting on IndusNeXus.com that reported on Reliance providing real-time data on spot and future commodity prices at no cost.
Of course, I didn't really "predict" this: Reliance's press release on this initiative was released on December 9.
The service is targeted at farmers, traders and cooperatives. A Reliance spokesman said:
This facility on R World provides access to millions of new users who have not had the opportunity to access real time commodity and securities prices. With a customer base of over 9 million and our recent initiatives to expand our network to over 5000 towns covering urban and rural areas as well as rail routes and highways, a sizable farmer and trader community that have not had access to real-time information on PCs or the Internet will benefit from this new initiative on Reliance mobiles.

I have seen advertisements on TV that one can get agri prices and also Gold by SMS using any mobile service provider, not necessarily RIM.
